US-based software-as-a-service vendor Autotask plans to open an office in Australia next year to better service the ANZ market.
The company has offices in the US, UK and China and sells web-based software designed to help resellers, managed service providers and IT service providers to sell, implement, deliver and bill their services.
This is achieved through both direct sales and distribution. In North America it has partnered with Ingram Micro.
International sales executive director David Salzberg says he would like to have an office based in Sydney or Melbourne by quarter two next year.
“I want to hire at least two sales staff, one of whom will be focused on the New Zealand market, and a technical support person. Because some of our customers are VARs, we usually sell direct to them.”
It works with 10 IT companies locally, including Tiger Networks, IT by Design and Computer Troubleshooters.
Autotask, through its partner Kaseya, has recently signed a distribution deal with Ingram Micro Australia and Salzburg would like to see this arrangement extended to New Zealand.
“We don’t have a distributor at this time so we are selling primarily direct. In New Zealand we would be pleased to hear from distributors like Ingram, whom want to extend their service offering to include a software as a service product.”
In an effort to target managed service providers, the vendor is staging the IT Service Success Tour half day event in Auckland on Friday, September 10 at the Hilton.
According to Salzburg, the event is designed to promote best practices among IT service providers and will feature techniques for running and optimising an IT services business.
“We found managed service providers [in ANZ] have the same problem that companies in the US have. These are technical and customer service problems, because they haven’t invested in their systems.”
Salzburg says the ANZ region is a priority market for the company.
