Auckland-based Fusion Networks is set to move from the ground floor of Connector Systems’ building in the suburb of Mt Wellington, to new premises in nearby Carbine Rd.
The director of Fusion Networks, Andrew Gurr, the former head of Connector Systems, says that company will now use the lower floor as a showroom.
“We have been camping out downstairs since the services division split [from Connector Systems] last year and the [Fusion Networks] business has matured enough to work out what we need. At the moment our team and the engineering lab are split up into separate areas.
“Essentially, we wanted to move into a place that could accommodate the five-year [expansion] plan.”
Gurr says the new premises in Mount Wellington is 40 percent larger than the current space.
“The area suits us as it is close to the airport and the engineering facility is purpose-built.”
The company has 12 staff, with 10 based in Auckland and two engineering staff in Christchurch. It wants to appoint another eight staff over the next few years to have a total headcount of 20.
“We have got plans for some more intermediate engineering people and an administration support person this year or early next year. We also want to expand that Christchurch footprint and look at Wellington [staff] next year.”
Gurr says the company will continue to specialise in the networking market. “Our plan is to expand the engineering support work we’re doing for companies.”
He sees opportunities to continue to support government and corporate customers’ networks.
