Jobs is worth a billion more than last year in Forbes 400

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has passed Apple's CEO Steve Jobs in the latest rich list compiled by Forbes Magazine.

According to Forbes, Zuckerberg has a fortune of $6.9 billion (£4.4 billion) give or take a penny, while Jobs is worth $6.1 billion (£3.9 billion).

Around $1.3billion of Jobs fortune comes from his shares in Apple, but the bulk of his wealth, up 1 billion this year, stems from his stake in Disney, gained from the sale of the acclaimed Pixar animation studio, which Jobs co-founded back in 1986. Jobs as largest shareholder, owns about $4.4 billion of stock.

Forbes placed Jobs at number 42 in the US, number 136 in the world, highlighting the succes of the iPad and iPhone 4 "despite a super-publicised antenna problem." Forbes also noted, in May Apple's market cap overtook Microsoft's to become the most valuable tech company in the world.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates topped Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans, with a estimated $54 billion (£34 billion) in the bank, up $4 billion from last year.
