Donovan crowned VMware channel director

VMware has appointed John Donovan as its new channel director.

Donovan will take the reins as of November 1 and will continue his position at Novell as its Asia Pacific vice president of alliance and channel sales until then. The VMware role was previously occupied by Fred King, who abruptly departed in June. Prior to joining Novell, Donovan had spent about 12 years with security vendor, Symantec.

He joined the company in 1995 as US-based distribution marketing manager before taking up local channel sales in 1997. Donovan was promoted to managing director in 1999 and then headed up its channels in Asia-Pacific Japan in 2005.
