Burton becomes Samsung IT sales lead

Richard Burton, the former national sales manager for Philips New Zealand, has joined Samsung’s local business in the pivotal role of IT sales manager.

He is part of a four-strong sales team that reports to Daryn Rickwood, who was recently appointed Samsung’s New Zealand’s head of sales for consumer electronics and IT.

Burton says he took up the role because Samsung is one of the fastest-growing global brands and says he aims to replicate locally the global success Samsung has achieved in the IT products market. Burton has strong experience in the consumer electronics sector — prior to joining Samsung, he spent slightly more than a year as the consumer electronics divisional manager for Monaco Corporation.

Before joining Monaco, he had a lengthy career with Philips New Zealand, beginning as a GSM wireless national account manager in 2000. He then progressed to more senior roles, including IT and commercial business manager and national sales manager.

Rickwood is the former HP imaging and printing group country manager.
