Connector Systems buys Kalooma Technologies

Distributor Connector Systems will further boost its portfolio of wireless technologies with the acquisition of Kalooma Technologies.

Kalooma focuses on enterprise wireless LAN and security.

Connector Systems managing director Dale Smith says his company’s goal is to be the “place to go” for resellers of wireless products.

“The marrying of Kalooma’s wireless expertise and agencies with Connector Systems’ existing wireless business will create a one stop shop for wireless products for any reseller in the industry,” says Smith.

Kalooma managing director Terence Fleming says his company has been growing 50 percent year on year.

The companies’ combined wireless portfolio includes Aerohive, Allied Telesis, Amigopod, AirMagnet, Bluesocket, E-Senza, Firetide, Lancom, Motorola, Ruckus, Trapeze and Westermo. Four of Kalooma's five staff will move across to Connector Systems' office in Mt Wellington, Auckland, says Fleming. He will become a business consultant at Connector Systems, reporting to general manager of the wireless business, Mark Dasent. Fleming says his company needed to find bigger premises and add more staff, and merging with another company was an easier way to do this than growing organically.
