Fire Service weighs hosted datacentre shift

Fire Service weighs hosted datacentre shift

The Fire Service has invited interested companies to register interest in managing its datacentre facilities.

The department says it wants to understand currently available datacentre hosting models and the benefits of adopting these, and explore a shift to a hosted datacentre model as part of a transition to infrastructure as a service.

The Fire Service currently has two in-house datacentres - a production datacentre at its Wellington headquarters and a disaster recovery datacentre at the Auckland regional office.

After receiving registrations of interest (ROI), it may issue a request for tender.

The ROI closes on 6 December.
