Return to Sender was named overall exemplar in emerging business, Resene Paints overall exemplar in large business and New Zealand Post Group overall exemplar in public sector. Resene Paints was also awarded a special recommendation for reaching the finals in all award categories.
Category winners are: Downer NZ (Strategy and Governance), Jasmax (Workplace) Return to Sender (Community), Resene Paints (Marketplace) and New Zealand Post Group (Environment).
The winners were announced in Auckland last night. The awards are part of theSustainable 60 Series created by Fairfax Media Business Group and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
“From robust reporting systems to eco-coffins; the winners integrate sustainable practices throughout their business,” says Julie Gill, general manager of Fairfax Media Business Group. “These companies have staff buy-in and are always looking for better, more sustainable ways to do business.”
Now in its second year, the series is designed to share and reward excellence in sustainable business practice in New Zealand. Each award has a unique set of criteria and entries were judged by an independent panel of sustainability and business experts.
“We look for companies that understand and demonstrate that sustainability brings robust business benefits. Businesses doing it because it’s better for business not just because it’s a nice thing to do or because people want them to do it,” says judge Rod Oram.
