Distributor Dove says its Lunch n Learn training event series in partnership with the company’s vendors is growing in significance since the launch late in 2009.
The first event held at Dove’s Penrose showroom in Auckland was by Acer and Microsoft on Acer’s home server, with subsequent events having been held for Emerson Network Power, Brother, AdvanPOS and most recently Kyocera.
Dove Auckland branch manager Rick Jansen says the Kyocera event attracted more than 35 people.
The distributor’s strategy is to select key topics and technologies that offer opportunities for resellers to make more margin or provide better solutions to customers.
“We are trying to find areas of interest, which is not easy at the moment because the market is quite quiet and things are getting so commoditised. What we have learned is you can’t just hold a launch, you have to have a topic that relates to people’s business every day.”
Jansen says Dove’s current focus is to bed down the agencies it has, with events building relationships with customers.
The company aims to hold one Lunch n Learn session each month. The Viewsonic event earlier this year centred around projectors that it says can compete with interactive whiteboards.
