Global Communications builds software channel

Cambridge-based mobility and ruggedised fieldforce technology specialist Global Communications seeks to expand its base of software developer partners.

Since its incorporation in mid-2009, the company has offered hardware including rugged laptops, tablets, PDAs, ultramobile PCs and fixed mount computers. The company now wants to build on its strategy of partnering with developers who specialise in mobile applications.

“It is fine having the hardware, but our company is more solutions based. That is why in our channel we are tying up with people who can help customers be more efficient and save money,” says managing director Paul Scoble.

The firm has 18 partners and wants to expand on this number, he says.

It has recently signed to become a TelstraClear dealer, offering the telco’s landline, broadband, 3G and mobile solutions.

Of Global Communications’ three most recent reseller signings, one was interested in the TelstraClear offerings, and one wanted to offer 3G-connected laptops.

Scoble says his company is “missing out” on covering opportunities in the Auckland market, but has the potential to expand there because its Cambridge office is not too far from that city.
