Canterbury DHB seeks new WAN network supplier

Canterbury DHB seeks new WAN network supplier

The Canterbury District Health Board (DHB) is currently accepting quotes for WAN connectivity of several sites.

The DHB currently has layer 3 managed Telco services to provide connectivity to CDHB sites, mainly rural ones, and end points at other South Island DHBs or health providers.

They are now seeking provisioning of bandwidth infrastructure as they extend access to core clinical systems for CDHB sites and share systems across the island.

For the DHB, the Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) “may assist connectivity to some of our rural sites” but “there is unknown time frames for the installation of RBI. CDHB wishes to move forward on ensuring we have a cost effective and technical reliant solution in the interim”.

The DHB says it will review all options and is “not averse to receiving multiple options from each respondent, with fresh solutions, either partial supply of some connections, or a full proposal”.

The CDHB sites within the metropolitan area of Christchurch will be migrated to dark fibre this year and, therefore, are not part of this request.

The deadline for the submission of quotes ends at 4pm on 11 February.
