Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) is accepting proposals from potential partners to provide, implement and support a solution for Storage and Services Refresh.
The hardware, software and services associated with the university’s data centres (Kelburn, Pipitea (RH) and Vivian St) are coming out of their warranty periods and, with data growth creating management problems for the current systems, VUW considers its time to change.
The university is looking for partners to refresh the storage arrays, SAN and software that supports file archiving and backup.
Among other requirements, respondents to VUW’s Request for Proposal (RFP) need to price all hardware and software licensing for five years and act as the prime contractor if any third party vendors are used to deliver the solution.
The university’s goal is to avoid a future five-year upgrade that involves a single complete refresh of its environment but rather being able to manage a series of smaller upgrades.
The deadline for this RFP ends at 3pm on 26 February.
