The IT industry is still the most confident employer nationwide, according to the latest quarterly Hudson Report.
The report shows 52 percent of employers in the sector plan to grow permanent staff numbers in the next three months until March, a rise of 3.7 percent on the previous quarter.
“The skills shortage has never gone away and as companies are starting to hire again, the best candidates are getting snapped up very quickly,” the report says of the IT industry. “Also, there is a strong desire amongst many employers to shift away from the use of contractors as a normal part of their business and to take on more permanent staff."
National permanent employment expectations in the IT industry rose by about 26 percent in the second quarter of 2010, quarter on quarter, but this sequential growth jumped to nearly 60 percent in the third quarter last year (July to September).
The report is based on interviews with 1,046 employers nationally.
