EMC adds to storage portfolio

In a three-continent launch event, EMC has announced the launch of over 40 new storage technologies, including the new VNX family, a unified storage platform that combines CLARiiON SAN systems and Celerra NAS systems in one.

According to Arron Patterson, chief technology officer for EMC New Zealand, this storage platform is “perhaps the most exciting announcement from a local point of view”, as these as “designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses – ideal for the NZ business landscape”.

Other product releases include new versions of Data Domain de-duplication storage systems and new Archiver systems.

“The 40 plus new storage technologies and products introduced today are part of the broadest set offered by any one company,” added Patterson.
