Ministry of Social Development seeks network security supplier

The Ministry of Social Development has issued a Request for Proposal to find a supplier of firewall/network security support services.

The ministry is looking for a vendor that can provide a firewall solution to comprehensively integrate with the existing Cisco IP network and Microsoft Exchange infrastructure.

According to the RFP, the term of the contract awarded will be for a minimum of three years, with the MSD having two right of renewals, for a term of no more than one year each, at its discretion.

The supplier must be placed in either the Challenger or Leader category in the Gartner Magic Quadrant and must be mainstream firewall such as Juniper, Cisco, Checkpoint or Fortinet. Other EAL4 supplier solutions may also be considered.

The RFP mentions that resellers must hold the following partner status with the technology they are proposing: Fortinet Platinum Partner, Cisco Gold Partner, Juniper J-Partner (Advanced Security Specialisation), Checkpoint Gold Partner, or McAfee Elite.

The solutions will be deployed in three data centre locations (Wellington, Upper Hutt and Auckland).

Vendors interested in this RFP must submit their responses by 7 February 2011. The start of the agreement with the preferred supplier will be on 31 March.
