Certus gains Traction in Australia

IBM specialist Certus Solutions has acquired Software Traction in a move that is predicted to boost the trans-Tasmanian company’s sales and increase its presence in the Australia market.

The acquisition is expected to boost Certus' annual income to a forecast $50 million and bring its number of employees to over the 100 mark, according to a statement released by the company.

Software Traction, which also specializes in IBM products, has “market expertise” in IBM’s Rational and Tivoli software applications, serving 80 customers in the corporate and goverment sectors.

“Certus customers will welcome the additional depth of expertise in Rational and Tivoli products which Software Traction adds to our business,” says Brian Allen, Certus’ CEO. “Software Traction’s customers will likewise appreciate the benefits of a considerably larger supplier with complementary expertise to that traditionally provided by Software Traction.”

According to Allen, redundancies will be "unavoidable", particular in regard to administrative functions.

The CEO added that the company is on "a strong growth track" and has further expansion plans within the Australian market.

Back in September, Certus inked a deal with Auckland-based Ability Software. The software vendor said at the time that the goal was to capitalise on new business opportunities across the Tasman.
