Symantec rebrands hosted services products

Symantec Hosted Services is now known as Symantec.cloud, the company has announced. The rebranding is part of Symantec’s effort to make the concept of cloud and cloud-security more “accessible” to businesses on both sides of the Tasman. “This new brand emphasises the importance of the cloud within the Symantec portfolio,” says Keith Buckley, Symantec.cloud regional director for Australia and New Zealand. “(It) enables us to show the market the strength of Symantec’s entire solutions suite.” The Symantec.cloud (pronounced Symantec dot cloud) name-change applies to an existing MessageLabs SaaS suite and Syamantec technology, according to the company’s website. The security vendor's name-change applies to the Australian and New Zealand markets effective immediately. For more information, go to www.symanteccloud.com/products/

From new extortion schemes, outside threats and rising cyber attacks, the art of securing the enterprise has seldom been so complex or challenging. With distance no longer a viable defence, Kiwi businesses are fighting to stay ahead of the security curve. In total, 28 per cent of local businesses faced a cyber attack last year, with the number in New Zealand set to rise in 2017. Yet amidst the sensationalism, media headlines and ongoing high profile breaches, confusion floods the channel, as partners seek strategic methods to combat rising sophistication from attackers. In sizing up the security spectrum, this Reseller News roundtable - in association with F5 Networks, Kaspersky Lab, Tech Data, Sophos and SonicWall - assessed where the channel sweet spot is within the New Zealand channel.
