Auckland-based business intelligence firm Datamine plans to strengthen its Australian presence later this year after recording strong local growth.
The company took on 12 new clients in 2010, growing turnover and staff numbers, says founder Paul O'Connor.
"Since moving to the Signal Box in Parnell [the company's new premises] we have hired six [staff]," says O’Connor.
Marketing executive Christina Wedgwood says her firm's expansion in Australia will come about mainly through companies it already works with in New Zealand that have established a presence across the Tasman.
“We have worked across the ditch but we’re looking to secure some more data sources in Australia,” Wedgwood says. It plans to open an office in Sydney to grow the company’s market share in Australia.
Locally, Datamine aims to tap into a desire for increased productivity among businesses.

Those in charge are being asked to provide accurate measures of results and evidence to support decisions in every part of their business from marketing and operations through to human resources and finance.
“In negotiating the current economic landscape, we’ve seen smart businesses increase their use of data to proactively aid decision-making, as well as retrospectively measure their initiatives."
