Virtualisation and cloud infrastructure provider VMware has announced new partner initiatives during the company’s Partner Exchange 2011 on Thursday in Sydney.
The company announced new specialisations, certification and tother programmes to help partners deliver enterprise hybrid cloud solutions.
“In 2010, we outlined our vision for taking customers on a journey to the cloud as the industry continues its shift toward IT as a Service,” says Carl Eschenbach, co-president, customer operations, VMware. “Our partners are on the frontlines in delivering this vision to customers, and VMware Partner Exchange 2011 is about educating partners and arming them with the right mix of programs and tools to help them become trusted advisers within the new hybrid cloud paradigm.”
The partner initiatives include a new three-tier VMware desktop certification programme to validate individuals with experience and expertise needed to implement virtual desktops, to be made generally available in April. There is also a Virtualization of Business Critical Applications Solution Competency to focus on helping partners migrate customers’ business-critical applications and infrastructures to virtualised environments.
VMware is also expanding its Solution Enablement Toolkits with to help partner profitability and time to market and will continue to make certain of the Toolkits available to partners at no charge, including VMware vSphere Upgrade, VMware vSphere Jumpstart, VMware View Pilot, Desktop Virtualization Assessment and VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager Jumpstart.
Other incentives include incorporating partners’ renewal business into the Partner Rewards quarterly rebate program, beginning in April and a points-based program to reward sales representatives for sales and training activity.
