MoH calls for tenders on health identity project

The Ministry of Health will spend $15 million on a project that it says will have a major impact on the health sector.

It is seeking proposals for hosting and supporting a health identity solution, which include implementation services to design, provision, set up, configure and test the required infrastructure for hosting the solution.

The current technology platforms for the National Health Index and Health Provider Index are hosted by Unisys.

Tony Cooke, health systems investment and planning manager, says the project is critical to the national health IT plan and he would like general practitioners to be able to access the proposed system next year.

The current system is 17 years old and is not true 24x7.

The new RFP seeks to find a commercial partner for the ministry. The RFP closes at the end of February and a decision is expected around the end of March, Cooke says. Read the full story at http://computerworld.co.nz/news.nsf/news/moh-calls-for-tenders-on-health-identity-project.
