Blue Coat launches cloud programme

Web security provider Blue Coat has introduced the new Cloud Partner Programme, an internet-delivered service for its reseller community.

The announcement of the new partner programme closely follows the introduction of Blue Coat’s Cloud Service, which is now in beta stages and will be available during the first half of 2011.

Joanne Vedati, Blue Coat’s director of product marketing and cloud services, says the company’s cloud services were architected from the ground to be a channel product.

She says the company wants to, “get partners energised and into this market easily, without a lot of investment. It gives them the opportunity to add to the Blue Coat portfolio”.

The programme includes two designations: Cloud-Ready and Managed Security Service Provider. While the first aims at providing partners with sales and technology training to quickly begin selling the new service, the latter is an advanced designation that offers partners the option to white label the Blue Coat Cloud Service and build additional offerings around it.

The company expects the programme to offer partners not only an expanded solution portfolio, but also new revenue opportunities and customer visibility.

“Partners are really interested,” Vedati says, adding that the new cloud offering allows its resellers to “offer a compelling solution to smaller businesses where resources are limited”.

As well, she says the company is looking to expand its reseller community.
