VMware on New Zealand build-up

Vitrualisation and cloud infrastructure provider VMware is looking to expand its New Zealand with the hiring of a new team of IT experts and plans to double the number of VMware Certified Professionals (VCP) to over 800 by the end of the year.

“In an economic climate where many businesses are seeing flat or small growth rates, VMware New Zealand is...growing rapidly,” says Tim Dacombe-Bird, regional manager for New Zealand in a statement released today. “Customers are confident that investments in VMware technology will deliver strong ROI, and that IT is a lever for business growth and competitive advantage.”

The company has appointed Joel Schluter as senior consultant, Richard Busby as partner systems engineer, and Andy de Raat as enterprise account manager for VMware New Zealand.

According to the statement, the company plans to encourage IT professionals to train for VMware’s VCP qualification through special incentives. Authorised VMware training is only accessible in New Zealand through VMware Authorised Training Centres (VATCs), VMware IT Academy program members and VMware itself.
