Asnet appoints new managing director

Asnet Technologies has appointed Eric Greenop as the company’s new managing director.

Prior to joining Asnet, Greenop held several roles in the telecommunications industry worldwide, including companies such as Motorola, British Telecom and Mitel Telecommunications.

“My aim is to ensure continued year-on-year growth of product and service offerings and company expansion that will enable Asnet to remain at the forefront of video conferencing services and products in the unified communications market,” says Greenop about his new role.

Chris Stewart, who incorporated the company in 1999 and has been a shareholder and General Manager since that time, says he is confident that Mr Greenop is the right person to take the company forward.

“Eric’s impressive qualifications and global experience will be invaluable to the high performing Asnet Technologies team,” says Chris Stewart, who incorporated the company in 1999 and has been a shareholder and general manager since then. Stewart will exit the company at the end of the year.

Similarly, Denise Hansen, also a shareholder, who has been with Asnet Technologies since its incorporation and led the company’s videoconferencing education and training, will look to retire six months from now.

In total, 28 per cent of local businesses faced a cyber attack last year, with the number in New Zealand set to rise in 2017. Yet amidst the sensationalism, media headlines and ongoing high profile breaches, confusion floods the channel, as partners seek strategic methods to combat rising sophistication from attackers. In sizing up the security spectrum, this Reseller News roundtable - in association with F5 Networks, Kaspersky Lab, Tech Data, Sophos and SonicWall - assessed where the channel sweet spot is within the New Zealand channel.
