Revera signs up to VMware programme

New Zealand-based Revera has moved into the hybrid cloud by signing up with VMware’s service provider programme (VSSP), launched in October last year.

The programme gives service providers a cloud-ready commercial model targetting VMware’s customer base through an enterprise hybrid cloud approach.

"Joining the VSPP represents an excellent business opportunity for Revera, something which we expect to benefit from as the cloud market continues to mature”, says Gael Hargreaves, Revera’s CEO. “The VSPP is a natural complement to Revera’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) capability development. We use a common set of technology to meet customers’ enterprise hybrid cloud demands, and this would enable thousands of our customers to achieve true business benefits from the cloud.”

Among the benefits for partners, the programme includes new pay-for-use bundles and licensing models, with the cost of licensing moved from the number of virtual machines to the amount of virtual RAM used.

For Hargreaves, this is “a really big benefit for Revera and its customers”, as it eliminates the need to pre-buy licenses.

According to John Donovan, VMware’s channel director, the programme is “firmly positioning the partner community to be central in building the cloud infrastructure”. "Our partner program is tailored specifically to support the role of the service provider as a trusted adviser for their customers, as well as demonstrating VMware’s long-term commitment to our partner community,” he adds.

Revera joins a community of over 200 partners in the ANZ region and, according to John Donovan, VMware has “an aggressive plan to sign up new partners in 2011”.

According to Revera's general manager for business development Robin Cockayne, the company manages a live pool of 1500 virtual machines using VMware.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
