EMC awards Westcon and Datacom in NZ

Winners announced at Biz Connect event in Sydney

Westcon and Datacom were the New Zealand winners of the EMC partner awards announced at EMC's annual Biz Connect event in Sydney on March 14.

The event is designed to position key stakeholders, senior managers and partners all in one place to get an update on business. Ahead of the event, Reseller News spoke to Brett Harris, ANZ general manager for mid markets and channel at EMC, who says the company and its partners have been busy in the past year, with over 40 new products launched. This year is already looking to be just as busy.

Harris says the New Zealand region performed very well in the past year and, as a reflection of that, EMC awarded the New Zealand division of Westcon the ANZ Distributor of the Year Award and Datacom New Zealand was the top partner in the country.

The awards were based on criteria such as overall revenue and growth.

The company says it has gathered results from a partner survey in the region to “get a feeling for how we are doing” and will share with partners both the “good results” and the areas where, says Harris, there is “room for improvement”.

The company appointed former IBM general manager of sales Phill Patton to run the business in New Zealand as country manager at the end of last year. This month, EMC appointed Dan Kieran as the company's new national manager for mid-tier storage in Australia and New Zealand. EMC has 40 staff in New Zealand, spread across its Wellington and Auckland locations
