Sony combines NZ offices

Sony group of companies in New Zealand joined together in same office location

The Sony group in New Zealand has combined all its office locations into one, in Ponsonby, Auckland.

The move is effective as of this month and combines Sony New Zealand (electronics), Sony Mobile Communications, Sony Pictures, Sony Music Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment, which will now all operate from the same leased office based at Level 1, 100 Ponsonby Road, in Auckland.

“We’re delighted that New Zealand is paving the way throughout the world and is the first location where all Sony Companies will operate from the same office. We’re excited to be working with our colleagues from the other Sony businesses and believe this direction will be fantastic for our staff, but also for business," says Martin McManus, Sony New Zealand country manager, speaking on behalf of the Sony group.

“While we are separate entities with unique strategies, increasingly, our direction is for the Sony family to come together as “One Sony” and we’re delighted to be bringing this direction to life in New Zealand. The heads of the other Sony entities and I are very excited about this approach. We’re looking forward to getting to know our respective colleagues and businesses better and we do believe working together will add to our effectiveness," he adds.

Each Sony company will have its own area within a collaborative work space and there will be communal meeting rooms and function areas.

Sizing up the NZ security spectrum - Where's the channel sweet spot?

From new extortion schemes, outside threats and rising cyber attacks, the art of securing the enterprise has seldom been so complex or challenging. With distance no longer a viable defence, Kiwi businesses are fighting to stay ahead of the security curve. In total, 28 per cent of local businesses faced a cyber attack last year, with the number in New Zealand set to rise in 2017. Yet amidst the sensationalism, media headlines and ongoing high profile breaches, confusion floods the channel, as partners seek strategic methods to combat rising sophistication from attackers. In sizing up the security spectrum, this Reseller News roundtable - in association with F5 Networks, Kaspersky Lab, Tech Data, Sophos and SonicWall - assessed where the channel sweet spot is within the New Zealand channel.
