Websense names second distributor

M.Tech to focus mostly on Australia

Security and data loss prevention specialist Websense continues its regional drive with the appointment of a second distributor.

M.Tech Australia will take Websense products largely to the Australian market. It is unclear what part of the Websense portfolio or to which resellers it will deliver products in New Zealand. M.Tech, described as niche security distributor in a company statement, has an office in Auckland.

The announcement of the second distributor in New Zealand comes after the recent appointment of

Simone Neunz as the first member of the vendor's local team in Auckland.

The expansion was due to anticipated growth in New Zealand, according to ANZ country manager Gerry Tucker.

In a story about Neunz's appointment, Tucker said the "single distributor model works for us now. Westcon is doing a great job for us."

In response to a follow-up query, Tucker tells Reseller News that the new distribution relationship is somewhat limited in New Zealand.

"Our primary distributor in New Zealand remains Westcon," says Tucker. "Our relationship with M.Tech is primarily focused on the Australian market given their established presence in that market."

Websense said in May it was both building the existing relationships with partners and adding new resellers to its channel network. “We have a small channel base here that we hope to expand,” Tucker said.

M.Tech regional business manager, Paul Lim, said in a statement that "Websense’s TRITON architecture and new mobile security offering" will allow the company to deliver a "market-leading secure web gateway and data loss prevention solution to customers throughout Australia and New Zealand.”

"With new offerings from Websense, which now involves appliance and venturing into new fields of mobile security and DLP, it necessitates more channel partners who can offer value in delivering proof of concepts via appliances and certified tech resources," Lim adds in a follow up email. "The channel ecosystem in New Zealand will benefit from more value added options."
