Networking and storage solutions distributor M.Tech has announced the launch of BackBox, a solution that provides a central location for securing all network backups.
“When network devices fail, which happens too often, recovery can be difficult and outages costly. Failures come from many sources including hardware, software and operating system malfunctions, as well as misconfigurations, upgrades and high-availability replication,” says Paul Lim, regional business manager for M.Tech Australia. “In all instances, recovery time needs to be short, and since homegrown scripts are often ineffective and unreliable, network administrators need verified backups in a centralised, secure location. BackBox provides these.”
Developed by Safeway Solutions, the BackBox device includes a reporting suite with a live dashboard and real-time status updates, along with a backup log, alerts and notifications. It can be customised with a number of options and supports automated and scheduled backups, three tiers of administration and web-based management.
The device is being priced in New Zealand with an RRP that starts at $1,900.
