Optimisation provider rolls out Velocity in support of NetApp deployments

Data optimisation provider Silver Peak Systems is debuting a package of products designed to allow t storage administrators to accelerate offsite replication workloads, the company announced. Silver Peak Velocity, based on the vendor's Virtual Acceleration Open Architecture (VXOA) software and storage forwarding, is designed to reduce disaster recovery costs by avoiding infrastructure upgrades, and by replicating more data in less time. Velocity is currently available for NetApp SnapMirror deployments. Silver Peak claims the solution provides "on-average 20x faster replication performance over existing network infrastructures" according to an announcement, managed from an administrator’s domain without network configuration changes. Velocity will be available for Dell, EMC, Hitachi Data Systems, and other mid-range replication products before the end of 2012, the company says. Pricing is A$15,995 for a one-year subscription, which includes two VXOA software licenses and full support. Additional specially-priced bundles for Dell EqualLogic replication are available exclusively through Dell and authorized Dell resellers. Click here for more information.
