Ex-Ingram Micro director returns to New Zealand to take marketing role

Former Ingram Micro general manager Desmond Ling is returning to New Zealand and will be taking up a role with distributor Exeed.

According to Justin Tye, Exeed's managing director, Ling will be taking the role of marketing director and is expected to start some time in March.

"Des will be responsible for the consumer business which has grown rapidly over the last six months since Exeed began distributing Apple products," Tye says in an email to Reseller News.

"Des decided that he wanted to return to New Zealand, assuming the right role was available," Tye says. "Luckily for him and us it was. It is a move that made sense to him both professionally and for his family."

"His knowledge of IT consumer product marketing in this industry is highly regarded so we are delighted that he will be joining our team," Tye adds.

Ling, an Ingram Micro veteran from 2004, moved to Sydney in 2011 to take the role of the distributor's director volume technology group, and according to Australia Reseller News , decided to return to New Zealand to be with his family.

Ling had been with Ingram Micro since 2004, when the distributor acquired Tech Pacific, where Ling had worked since the mid 1990s.
