Silver Peak announces new software portfolio

New products part of Silver Peak's Velocity solution to accelerate offsite data replication workloads

Silver Peak Systems has launched a new portfolio of downloadable software products that are purpose-built for storage professionals to accelerate their offsite data replication workloads, the company has announced.

The new Silver Peak VRX-2, VRX-4 and VRX-8 software products are part of Silver Peak’s Velocity solution and the company says they overcome WAN bandwidth, distance and quality challenges and allow storage professionals to meet their recovery point objectives (RPOs) by replicating more data, over longer distances, and in less time.

“Most storage professionals understand the importance of offsite data replication, but until now have been handcuffed by the network when attempting to extend the distance of their replication apps,” says Everett Dolgner, director of replication product management for Silver Peak.

“Silver Peak VRX software puts the power and control of data acceleration in the hands of the storage administrator. In less than 20 minutes, a storage manager can easily meet their RPOs, lower disaster recovery costs and extend the distance between replication sites," he adds.

The new VRX products are based on Silver Peak’s Virtual Acceleration Open Architecture (VXOA) and can be deployed into any replication environment, running on all standard hypervisors, including VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and KVM.
