Melbourne IT enterprise services executive general manager, Peter Wright, said it is almost mandatory today for a successful organisation to have a successful presence online.

"Great content, scalable digital platforms, and predictable Internet performance are all required to succeed on the Internet," he said.

While organisations can select digital agencies to build their content, and "they can do that over and over again depending on what they need to create," the selection of a digital marketing platform is a "much more strategic investment."

"It's there for five to seven years plus, and it needs to be a scalable platform that can deliver a consistent end user experience, no matter what the load or demand is on that platform," Wright said.

"It is critical that occurs so that the best end user experience can be delivered."

As a company, Wright said Melbourne IT manages digital platforms "proactively" so it can deliver the end user experience consistently.

Where Akamai comes into the partnership is that their technology extends that proposition of performance and scalability by managing it within the Internet itself.

"With Akamai's web performance solutions, we can actually drive scalability and performance linking back to the end user experience, not just within the digital platform itself but across the Internet," Wright said.

That combination is expected to provide organisations with what Wright characterises as the "most consistent end user experience," which in turn can drive a more successful outcome for both the organisation and their end customers.

Akamai's partnership with Melbourne IT comes in the wake of the Cloud vendor's focus on expanding its channel presence in Australia as part of its growth strategy in the Asia Pacific region.
