Sektor gets Motion

Sektor Distributors has announced the acquisition of J Mills Distribution, a distributor of Motion Computing rugged tablet PCs

Sektor Distributors' recent acquisition of J Mills Distribution means the company gets ANZ distribution rights for rugged tablet vendor Motion Computing.

“In Motion, we are bringing on board a highly complementary mobility brand to broaden our core mobility division in support of our reseller and partner community. The Motion product offering will further extend our resellers reach into new and emerging mobility markets," says Sektor Australia's general manager Cameron Arnold.

”J Mills has been evolving into a mobility distributor over the last 5 years and I see this as a crystallisation of this process,” says Alan Duncan, J Mills Distribution managing director. “Sektor is well placed to take the business to a new level and the time has come for me to hang up my boots, confident in the knowledge that the Motion businesses is in safe hands," he adds.

Motion Computing's ANZ regional manager Brett Gross saysthe company is "very pleased to welcome Sektor as a Value Add Distributor to the Motion Computing community in the ANZ region". "Sektor’s strong support of its resellers, partners and ISV relationships reflect the model that Motion has recognised globally as our preferred path to market,” he adds.

According to Sektor Distributors ANZ managing director, Rhys Warren, this acquisition is a continuation of the company's investment around mobility and POS. "Motion Computing is an innovative vendor, growing up and, in many markets, leading the emergence of the ruggedised tablet market here. We’re excited about the value our distributorship with Motion Computing will bring in support of our partners."

Sektor will start shipping Motion tablets in New Zealand from May 1. The brand has been distributed in New Zealand by Express Online, which was merged with its sibling company, Express Data, in February.

Dale Campbell, who looked after the Motion business for Express Online, will start working with Sektor on May 13 as the Motion Computing NZ BDM.

A representative of Express Data told Reseller News the company could not comment on the brand at this time.
