Richard Prowse exits Symantec

New Zealand country manager is leaving the company after two years.

Symantec New Zealand country manager Richard Prowse is leaving the company after two years in charge. Symantec would not discuss why Prowse is leaving but confirmed his resignation.

“It is corporate policy not to disclose the reasons for an individual’s departure from the company,” says a Sydney-based Symantec spokesperson.

In a statement the company thanked Prowse for his contributions and wished him all the best for the future

No replacement for Prowse has been announced.

“Symantec has a strong team in place in New Zealand who will be continuing to support our customers and partners," added the spokesperson.

In the statement Prowse announced he would leave Symantec on May 9 and thanked customers for working with the company.

“The success of the business in conjunction with you all has been nothing less than outstanding,” he says.

Prowse began his IT career 15 years ago and worked both locally and in the United States for Dell. Before joining Symantec, he was New Zealand national sales manager for VMware.

Prowse’s resignation follows the sudden exit of Symantec New Zealand channel sales manager Simone Rose in February. Her role was transferred to Australia.

Last November Symantec’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand and vice president of the Pacific region, David Sykes, left along with regional channel director, John Donovan.

At the time, the vendor stated it had made the changes to streamline the company's Asia-Pacific and Japan business operations, so that it could reinvest into other areas of the business.
