First time entrant Cortell takes Supreme Award for Wendy's project.

Helping fast food chain Wendy's to make the most of its point of sale information has taken business intelligence consultancy Cortell to the top of this year's IBM Business Partner awards. Using IBM's Cognos TM1 analytics solution, Cortell added a dynamic element to Wendy's use of sales data. The company can now analyse its information in near real time, and the project enabled enhanced decision making which has placed Wendy's in a more competitive market position.

IBM and Reseller News were impressed by the quantity and calibre of this year's entries.

Another to stand out was that of Solnet Solutions, for its project upgrading the Ministry of Health's Cancer Registry system. The entry received a Highly Commended in the Supreme Award category.

The awards were aligned with IBM's Smarter Planet strategy this year, which recognises increasing interconnection of devices which store information, resulting in more intelligent decision making. Awards were given for SmartWork, Dynamic Infrastructure, Co-Marketing, Green and Beyond and Rookie of the Year, while there were a further three Highly Commended prizes given in the non-IBM partner category, Co-Marketing and Dynamic Infrastructure. Awards were also given to two individuals from reseller and distributor organisations, as voted by industry peers.

The Dynamic Infrastructure category proved especially popular, attracting more than 20 entries and resulting in the highest number of finalists.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
