Orange CEO says Apple is 'less arrogant' and market is 'too crowded'

The CEO of France Telecom-Orange has said that Apple is more flexible and less arrogant than it used to be.

The CEO of France Telecom-Orange has said that Apple is more flexible and less arrogant than it used to be.

France Telecom-Orange CEO Stephane Richard told journalists gathered in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress that "Apple has [become] more flexible, paying more attention to everyone else, probably a little less arrogant than they used to be", according to AllThingsD's report.

Richard believes that the reason for the change of attitude is that Apple is "probably a little more under pressure."

He also noted that, while the competition is hotting up, "There is probably not room for everyone." He hopes there will be one other ecosystem beside Apple and Samsung/Android but he fears that the market will not accept another player.

He explained: "We are living through incredible competition; they [Apple and Samsung] are not living through competition." AllThingsD notes that he implored regulators to prevent further companies from entering the crowded market.

Joining iOS and Android in the crowded market are Microsoft and Blackberry and now a challenge from Mozilla (the company behind Firefox).

Mozilla to take on Android and iOS

Mozilla has announced its plans to create its own mobile OS, one that will focus on open standards. The company previewed its Firefox operating system for mobile devices just as Mobile World Congress kicked off in Barcelona.

The OS is based on HTML5 and will be used by Alcatel, LG, ZTE and Huawei in emerging markets.
