SINGAPORE (10/28/2003) - Veritas Software Corp. has established its regional headquarters in Singapore to support its businesses in Asia-Pacific and Japan and its research and development facilities in Pune, India.
Singapore will provide the regions with operational support services, including general and administrative, marketing and operations functions in a bid to expand its position in Asia-Pacific and Japan.
Said Gary Bloom, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Veritas Software, "The opening of Veritas' new Asia-Pacific operations headquarters marks a significant milestone in the company's history that will allow Veritas to further expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific and Japan regions."
At the moment, Veritas is the leading storage software player in Australia, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, according to research firm International Data Corporation's 2003 Asia-Pacific semi-annual Infrastructure Management Software Tracker. Presently, Veritas has over 1,100 employees in Asia Pacific and Japan with offices in 17 cities and revenues approaching US$160 million. Worldwide, Veritas posted revenues of US$1.5 billion over the last year.
The company has also appointed Steven Leonard as the senior vice president and general manager of Asia Pacific and Japan. Leonard succeeds Craig Stevens who is planning to retire at the end of the year.
Leonard assumes sales responsibilities in Asia Pacific and Japan and overall operations responsibility for the region.
