Hitachi Data Systems finds new Asia-Pacific general manager

Kevin Eggleston has been promoted to Asia-Pacific senior vice-president and general manager

Hitachi Data Systems has appointed Kevin Eggleston to the position of Asia-Pacific senior vice-president and general manager.

Eggleston, who was western region vice-president in the United States, has taken over from Mark Kay who now heads up the company’s system integrator and alliance division.

Senior marketing manager for Australia and New Zealand, Tim Smith, said Eggleston will be focused in cultivating the company’s leadership position in the assigned region.

“He will drive the overarching Asia-Pacific strategy and support the business where required,” he said. “All relevant country managers will be reporting to him and he will provide business support functions such as face-to-face dealings with customers.”

Smith also considered Eggleston's previous work experience in Australia to be a key driver for Hitachi Data Systems in the local market.

“Kevin’s history of being based in Australia for former employer, StorageTech, means that he has first hand understanding of the Australian market and channel requirements,” he said.

While Eggleston is officially based in Hong Kong, Smith expects to see him frequent Australia in his new role.

Eggleston has been in the IT industry for over 30 years. Prior to his employment at Hitachi Data Systems, he worked for StorageTek in Sydney.
