Hop-on is marketing 'disposable' mobile phones that retail at only £10 (US$20).
The phone, which has been available in the U.S. for a while, has no LCD screen. Despite this, Hop-on claims it has received orders for more than 150,000 of the phones in Europe during the past two weeks.
Peter Michaels, president of Hop-on said yesterday: "We are getting so many inquiries about the 'disposable cell phone' in Europe and the Middle East, we will be hiring additional support to meet the market demands."
The £10 Hop-on disposable phone is marketed as a back-up in case an original phone is lost or stolen. It also has an internal tracking device and no contract.
