Baillie leaves Ingram ahead of schedule

Kerry Baillie has brought forward his exit from Ingram Micro after completing the handover of managing director responsibilities to new boss, Guy Freeland.

The company originally announced Baillie would leave at the end of August but, with Freeland now settled, he left two months ahead of schedule on June 30.

Baillie only joined Ingram in November, following its acquisition of the Tech Pacific business he had previously headed up.

"It was Kerry's request that if things were going well he would only come in on an as required basis," Freeland explained. "We got to one plus one [Ingram and Tech Pacific] equals slightly more than two in May and had record sales in June, exceeding forecasts by about 7.5 per cent.

"Kerry's diary was emptying pretty fast but we do have some scheduled vendor meetings that he will attend between now and the middle of August."

Baillie said he had not made any decisions on his long-term future but would be heading to Europe next month for a well deserved holiday.

"It was obvious from Kerry's farewell function that he leaves the company a well-liked and respected leader," Freeland said. "People were sad to see him go."
