Cloud service provider RightNow has launched a cloud services agreement (CSA) for licensing enterprise cloud software.

According to the company, it provides the guaranteed-pricing benefits of a traditional master services agreement without escalating maintenance bills, lock-in, and shelfware.

The CSA includes an annual usage alignment, three year price commitment, annual termination and cash service level credits.

RightNow aims to provides relief from complex negotiations that are standard operating procedure with traditional agreements. CEO Greg Gianforte says because RightNow has reduced risk for clients, the company wants clients to spend less time negotiating contracts.

“Enterprise cloud computing shouldn’t involve shelfware, vendor lock-in, or classic enterprise software selling tactics. RightNow is taking bold steps to reinvent how cloud vendors engage with client,” says Gianforte.

RightNow has also set what it calls a cloud challenge for the industry with a set of rules.
These include no shelfware, minimum five-year pricing certainty, no long-term contract lock ins, roll-over usage and cash service credits.
