Whitegold furthers NZ plans with Astaro deal
Lands trans-Tasman distribution deal
By Matthew Sainsbury, Sydney | Tuesday, 11 August 2009Security vendor Astaro has appointed WhiteGold Solutions in a distribution deal which covers Australia and New Zealand.
WhiteGold Solutions managing director, Dominic Whitehand, says the partnership will help the distributor expand its presence in New Zealand, and give it an additional cloud computing play that wouldn't compete with existing vendor partners.
“That the relationship includes New Zealand is great for our plans to have a presence there by the end of the year,” Whitehand says.
“There are a lot of resellers in the market talking about virtual technologies, and now we have access to a full suite of virtual appliances, and we don’t see Astaro as encroaching on existing partnerships – we see opportunities to grow new channels with this one.”
Astaro vice-president of sales, Asia Pacific and Japan, Guy Coles, says WhiteGold has the international presence to help the vendor open up new markets.
In Australia, Astaro already has two distributors, Softgen and TechPlus. In New Zealand, Chillisoft also distributes Astaro internet security.
