Telepresence provider Tandberg has expanded its local reach by appointing Datacraft as a systems integrator partner.

According to the vendor, the signing of Datacraft will enable the company to prepare for current and future demand in video conferencing among public and private sector organisations.

“Companies of all sizes are looking for productivity improvements across their operations. Many are recognising video conferencing as a way to achieve that and they are focusing on how video will integrate into their overall collaboration strategy. We are delighted to extend the successful partnership which we have with Tandberg in Australia across the Tasman,” says Datacraft managing director Robin Hartendorp.

Tandberg ANZ channel manager Marco Corrent says Datacraft has market expertise in unified communications and experience across Microsoft and Cisco technologies.
“This will be of considerable advantage in supporting our customers and prospects with their visual communication strategies.

“At the same time, we’ve experienced tremendous success and momentum in the New Zealand market, as the demand for comprehensive video conferencing solutions from the boardroom to the desktop is increasing significantly,” he says.

A poll conducted by Tandberg in November last year found that video conferencing systems have become more prevalent in local businesses with 40 percent of companies investing in the technology.

The poll also identified the two most popular applications for video conferencing were executive meetings and internal communications. Almost half of companies use it to communicate with their customers and suppliers while over a third of respondents use the technology for training and human resources requirements such as candidate interviews.

According to Tandberg, desktop video communications are coming of age with 46 percent of respondents anticipating that their organisation will implement video communications technology onto their employee’s desktops within the next three to five years.
