PB Technologies signs up as Apple reseller

PB adds new agencies, Renaissance and Apple open to other new partnerships

By Amanda Sachtleben, Auckland | Tuesday, 08 September 2009

PB Technologies has been appointed an Apple authorised reseller and added other new agencies Zalman, Cooler Master, Aten and Sapphire.

General manager Darren Smith says it pursued the Apple relationship “for some time”, and is now offering the full range of products and accessories at its Penrose store in Auckland, though it won’t offer the iPhone.

Staff are undergoing Apple sales and technical training, and the store has a dedicated area with demonstration products.

“We think [Apple] fits in quite well to the high-end product mix. Our point of difference is we’re very strong in the small to medium businesses rather than the corporates. We’re a supermarket for computers for these types of people.”

Smith says it pursued relationships with Sapphire (in components and multimedia) and Zalman (cooling products and cases), but Aten “came to us because we were doing quite well”.

Renaissance executive divisional manager Bronwyn Sinclair says PB Technologies has joined Apple’s tier two reseller programme and has “committed to doing a good job with us”.

“We have quite a few [companies] that approach us from time to time. We’re interested in talking to people who are looking to add Apple to their range.

“We don’t just sign up anyone. We’re looking at potential new partners and working closely with Apple and doing it in a measured way.”
