Nankivell to take helm of Simms' enterprise business
Secures role at Kingston distributor
By Reseller News Staff, Auckland | Thursday, 09 September 2010Kingston country manager Vaughan Nankivell will put his experience with the vendor to good use when he joins its local distributor Simms International early next month.
His role at Simms will be corporate and enterprise general manager, which will involve promoting Simms' product portfolio to existing and new resellers, developing new corporate and enterprise-focused channel partnerships and working with Simms staff to take on new brands for Simms International in New Zealand and Australia.
“Simms was established in New Zealand in early 2010 and already they have gained a solid reputation in the reseller community for customer service and support," says Nankivell.
Nankivell had been Kingston's New Zealand country manager since April, when the vendor promoted Marites Bairstow to oversee Australia.
Prior to joining Tech Pacific (now Ingram Micro), Nankivell worked at IBM software reseller Convergence.

Best news of the week
Aside from the pending Apple announcement, this ranks a close second for news of the week. Good to see talent stay in NZ and not head offshore. Welcome back to distribution Vaughan - a lot of changes happening and this is a very smart move by Simms and no doubt will open up opportunities for other vendors looking for a focused speciality distributor to add focus, service and commitment to their products and the channel. Congratulations Paul and Vaughan. All the best.

Great Stuff
I see this as a real positive step for Simms having someone with channel experience in the SMB market. Vaughan is well respected througout the reseller community and I can see, with the inclusion of Dell Enterprise Product Portfolio, a great step in the right direction to really create some competition in this space. Well done Simms and Vaughan.

Vaughan and Simms
Fantastic news for the channel. I have known Vaughan for 10+ years now and this will have a major positive impact for the channel - from large resellers to small. Good for Kingston as well - with 2 key Kingston regional staff now at Simms directly supporting the channel. Well done guys.

I have just read the comments below and am humbled by the show of support and confidence. For the record, I took this position at Simms after resigning from Kingston to directly assist and support the channel. I love this industry and have had the privilege of working for 3 distributors, 6 resellers and 1 manufacturer over the course of the last 20 years. It was a difficult decision to leave Kingston who are simply awesome. But - having worked with Simms as my distributor in Australia for the last 3.5 years - I know their philosophy and passion for the channel and what they want to build here in New Zealand is very exciting. Thank you once again for the positive comments and am looking forward to October.
