Dove: Let’s do lunch ... and learn

Auckland showroom to be opened to resellers for vendor updates

Dove Electronics plans to throw its doors open to vendor partners as part of a planned training series called Lunch and Learn.

Auckland manager Rick Jansen says he identified a need for a central location where training can be offered to resellers of its product agencies including D-Link, Acer and Emerson.

“We’re going to keep the sessions at half an hour and feed people so hopefully resellers can send their staff along without taking too much of their day. They can get an update, but not lose too much selling time.”

He says the recently opened showroom at its Penrose site is designed for people to get a hands-on look at stock. “A lot of resellers have a tight cash flow and can’t afford to stock a lot of product.”

Acer and Microsoft will be holding a training session on October 14 and 15 about Acer’s home server at Dove’s Penrose offices.

D-Link plans to began holding sessions in March next year. Commercial business manager Carla Thornton says it will aim to give resellers more than just a product update.

“It’s going to help the resellers sell more and train them on the new products we are bringing in. We find that in January and February a lot of people are still on holiday, but in March everyone hits the ground running.”
