Telepresence, video and voice communications company Polycom has appointed Datastor as its local distributor from June 1. The deal is the first stage of Polycom’s plan to strengthen its presence.

Datastor is a subsidiary of Westcon Group which is also Polycom’s distributor in Australia.

Polycom’s former distributor, Asnet Technologies, will become the first local Polycom platinum reseller on July 1.

Polycom ANZ country manager Michael Chetner says Datastor was appointed due to its background in unified communications and its shared partnerships with members of the Polycom Open Collaboration Network.

“Datastor actively supports Polycom’s open standards-based solutions approach that gives users easy access to powerful, productivity-enhancing UC tools, without having to ‘rip-and-replace’ their existing IT investments.”

Datastor managing director Dave Rosenberg says Polycom will be integrated into its value add model, resulting in a complete unified communications offering.
“As our vendor ecosystem continues to evolve, we see Polycom as critical to this evolutionary success,” he says..
