Lenovo ANZ MD to step down

Phil Cameron will be replaced by former ANZ boss Alan Munro, who is returning after an international posting

Lenovo has announced ANZ managing director Phil Cameron will step down from the top job at the end of the month, to be replaced by former A/NZ boss Alan Munro.

According to the PC vendor’s press statement, Munro will return to head up ANZ in October. He originally left Australia to take up a post as vice-president for Lenovo UK and Ireland in early 2008 and is currently vice-president of global accounts across Western Europe and UK CGM.

It is unclear where Cameron will now move to.

In the statement, president of Lenovo Western Europe, North America, Japan, Australia/New Zealand and Israel, Milko van Duijl, thanked Cameron for his contribution and welcomed Munro back to the local team. Munro also stated his time spent managing other markets would greatly benefit the local go-to-market strategy.

Cameron joined IBM in December 2001 and became Lenovo local sales director in 2005. He was appointed country manager in early 2008 after Munro’s departure.

Munro will remain Lenovo’s UK CGM until he returns to Australia on October 12.
