Unisys provides UC service for local telcos

APAC telcos can offer subscribers converged services

Unisys is now offering a fully-converged messaging service, integrating fixed, mobile and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telecommunications to support the local market.

Vodafone is a customer of the service. The messaging bureau means telecommunication providers can offer their subscribers products that combine fixed, mobile and data messaging requirements. These include a single voice mailbox that combines messages left on separate VoIP, mobile and fixed phones, and a web-based tool to access and manage fax, voice and email messages in one inbox.

Service providers can also use the messaging bureau as an outsourced application with their own branded products.
According to the company, its offering provides a cost-effective way for telecommunication companies to modernise applications and offer services tailored to customers.
For example, a small business customer who is always on the move, could use the single mailbox for fixed and mobile calls to keep up to date with incoming calls.

Unisys Asia Pacific commercial industries vice president Sue Carter says messaging staff will support the bureau from its New Zealand telecommunications centre of excellence.
