Universities combine for PC order

Approximately 4500 computers needed

By Hamish Barwick, Auckland | Monday, 08 September 2008

In a bid to cut costs, Auckland, Waikato and Victoria universities have pooled resources to select one PC supplier. According to request for quotation (RFQ) documents released on Friday, the universities want a tier-one supplier who can deliver the best value products and services.

The universities estimate that they may need a total of approximately 4500 desktops, laptops and workstations from January to December next year, though the RFQ states the order may not be this large. The estimated number is based on lease and replacement schedules for 2009.

There is also a further supply opportunity, as the University of Auckland information commons department needs 615 PCs in December next year. A separate request will be issued.

The deadline for replies is Friday, September 26. More details are available on the Government Electronic Tenders website under ICCNZ reference 23237.
